In Search of Gold

This sculpture is a colaboration between the frying pan home industry of Warung Muncang District and the sculptor and lecturer Budi Adi Nugroho. This scculpture utilizes of two types of metal, namely hammer iron and brass sheets. A series of pans are composed in a shape reminiscent of tree silhouettes, igniting the public’s mind of a golden tree in front, rusty from the back. This sculpture is one of several parts of Budi’s series entitled In Search of Gold, as Budi’s effort to raise the issue of craftmanship Bandung with a case study of the villageof Holis, Warung Muncang, which is the center of the wok masters.


Patung ini merupakan kolaborasi antara industri rumahan wajan di Kecamatan Warung Muncang dengan pematung dan pengajar Budi Adi Nugroho. Patung ini terdiri atas dua material logam, yaitu besi palu dan lembaran kuningan. Serangkaian wajan dikomposisikan dalam bentuk yang mengingatkan pengunjung akan siluet pohon, memantik benak publik akan pohon yang berwarna keemasan di sisi depan, berkarat di sisi belakang. Patung ini merupakan salah satu dari beberapa bagian seri karya Budi yang bertajuk In Search of Gold, sebagai upaya Budi mengangkat isu ke-empuan di bandung yang beragam dengan studi kasus kampung Holis Warung Muncang yang merupakan pusat empu wajan.
