Patung Gurita

The Octopus Sculpture was a part of a private residence building located on Sukajadi Street, behind the Grand Aquila Hotel. According to local residents, the building and sculpture were built sometime in the 1980s. Based on data obtained from interviews conducted by the house’s occupants with local and national journalists, the owner of the house is an art enthusiast and works in the water sector. It is estimated that based on this information, the sculpture is most likely the personal expression of the house’s owner who wanted the statue to be on the roof of his house. The sculpture was made using cement material with an iron frame and then painted black. Estimating the scale of the sculpture to the house, the sculpture has an approximate height, width and length of more than 5 meter.

Patung gurita ini merupakan bagian dari bangunan sebuah rumah yang terletak di kawasan Sukajadi, Bandung, berada di belakang Hotel Grand Aquila. Bangunan dan patung tersebut menurut warga sekitar dibangun kisaran tahun 1980-an. Berdasar data yang didapat dari wawancara yang dilakukan oleh penghuni rumah dengan wartawan lokal maupun nasional, pemilik rumah tersebut senang dengan karya seni dan berprofesi di bidang perairan. Diperkirakan berdasar keterangan tersebut, maka patung tersebut dapat dinilai sebagai ekspresi pribadi pemilik rumah yang menghendaki patung tersebut berada di atap rumahnya. Patung tersebut dibuat menggunakan material semen dengan rangka besi kemudian dicat hitam. Memperhatikan skala patung terhadap rumah, patung tersebut memiliki tinggi, lebar dan panjang lebih dari 5 meter.
