Patung Love

In the Balai Kota Park of Bandung, an iron-based installation borrowing the concept of ‘love bridge’ in Paris was announced to the public in 2014. The installation’s base is an iron net with big enough space to attach a small padlock. This idea was intended as a touristic attraction and has been installed in many cities globally, by attracting couples to ‘secure’ their symbol of eternal love represented with the padlock. At the top of the installation is a typographic sculpture of the word LOVE. It amassed massive criticism for its close resemblance to the work of American Pop artist Robert Indiana. As a response, the government altered the composition of the sculpture completely but with the same word.
